Who Am Iā¦?
I am a developer, designer, and traditional artist who has always been creating in some capacity since toddlerhood. I have a knack for creating intricate scapes, or viewing experiences, to challenge a different frame of mind within the viewer.
Backstory Time!
Growing up in Statesville North Carolina, there was not much awareness or appreciation for the arts.
I attended an International Baccalaureate program in middle school where I had begun to form my inclination for ways of creative expression by participating in the concert band. During this time I had also been practicing my skills within my drawing, and playing around on the family desktop with the Adobe Suite. Due to financial factors, the musical and digital art route became stagnant shortly after.
In high school, I attended an early college program focusing on the visual and performing arts where I strengthened my traditional artistic abilities. I formed more of my artistic voice by mixing my journaling and art together. At 18, I graduated with my high school diploma and a degree with an Associate in Arts.
At 22, after I had formed my financial bearings and autonomy, I started attending university for New Media and Design to challenge myself again within new media art. I had found an interest in developing works that can be manipulated solely by the presence of the viewer, as I had felt that it includes others in making the work flourish. In my years between education, I visited sites that exhibited immersive and interactive works for points of inspiration and noticed the sparseness of locations that showcase these works on the east coast of the United States. As the artist I am today, I would like to take part in making these experiences more accessible for East Coast natives.
Currently, as a senior in college, I have become proficient in the Adobe Suite, Figma, and the integration with the visual knowledge I have built up over the years, using p5.js, ml5.js, and Visual Studio Code to make the interactive works I have always wanted to produce.
